One of the solutions offered by Imagine.com  Communications Inc., in partnership with Imagine Wireless LLC, is a modern Unified Communications System that replaces a traditional business Phone System PBX (Private Branch Exchange). This solution uses a network-connected IP PBX from leading vendors and supports SIP-based corded phones connected through Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) switches. These phones feature 3.5-inch or 5-inch color displays and function like familiar desk phones, while all extensions—both corded and wireless—can be managed and configured through a web browser.

Imagine Wireless LLC provides the wireless architecture and DECT-based SIP components that integrate into this Unified Communications platform.

Unified Communications systems support a wide range of devices, including corded desktop phones, IP PoE cameras, IP paging speakers, IP intercom speakers, and mobile DECT wireless handsets. DECT handsets operate on a dedicated DECT wireless architecture, typically deployed alongside a company’s Wi-Fi network in areas where mobile voice extensions are needed.

In environments such as manufacturing facilities with large open areas, supervisors equipped with DECT wireless phones gain direct extension access wherever they are. This reduces reliance on overhead paging, improves response times, and enhances overall operational efficiency by enabling quick, direct communication without disrupting the workspace.

To support this architecture, DECT repeaters are installed at elevated positions—such as on a factory floor—to extend coverage from a nearby DECT base station connected to the company’s Ethernet network. Wireless DECT phones can roam between repeaters much like devices roaming across Wi-Fi SSIDs. DECT is a well-established standard for secure, encrypted wireless voice communication.

For organizations using HP Poly corded and Poly wireless DECT phones, their phones also support various HP Poly Bluetooth headsets as an optional accessory.
